Clinical incidents and early career graduate nurses
Researchers at Western Sydney University are investigating the experiences of recent graduate nurses who have had involvement in the reporting of a clinical incident.
To gain a better understanding to this sensitive topic, researchers from the University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery are inviting recent graduates from across Western Sydney to take part.
Lead researcher Asiye Kopan, says it is hoped the study will provide insight into the way that clinical incidents are reported, and the impacts it has on graduate nurses.
Ms Kopan says “it is time to gain an in-depth understanding of Graduate Nurses’ experiences when reporting clinical incidents and identify common themes that hinder or facilitate reporting”.
Researchers are keen to talk to graduate nurses who have been practicing as a registered nurse for approximately 6 to 12 months or who have finished their graduate positions within the last 12 months and during this time have experienced the reporting of a clinical incident.
Participants are able to meet with the research team in person, on the phone or via Skype to be interviewed about their experience.
This research project has human ethics approval from Western Sydney University’s Human Research and Ethics Committee (Approval Number: H12526).
For more information, or you would like to take part in the study please contact Asiye Kopan on email firstname.lastname@example.org or 0431 930 947.
