Live streaming of National Report on Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment at Australian Universities

The release of the Australian Human Rights Commission's landmark National Report on Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment at Australian Universities will be streamed live via this page on Western Sydney University's News Centre from 10.00am on Tuesday 1 August.

The national results will be released at a media conference with Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins, Universities Australia's Chair Professor Margaret Gardner AO, and National Union of Students President, Sophie Johnston, at the Australian Human Rights Commission offices in Sydney between 10.00am–11.00am (AEST).

Immediately after this media conference at 11.00am Western Sydney University will release its institutional data from the survey, which will also be available from our News Centre.

The national survey is part of Universities Australia's Respect.Now.always initiative which was launched last year to help prevent and address sexual assault and sexual harassment in university settings.

Participation in the Respect.Now.Always campaign is part of Western Sydney University's longstanding effort and commitment to raising awareness of sexual assault and sexual harassment on campus, to keeping our students safe, and to continually improving our policies and support services.

About the survey

The Respect. Now. Always. initiative was launched in February 2016 as a long-term, shared approach by 39 Australian universities to prevent and address sexual harassment and sexual assault in Australian university settings.

As part of its Respect. Now. Always. initiative, Universities Australia commissioned the Australian Human Rights Commission to undertake the first national university student survey on sexual assault and sexual harassment.

More than 30,000 Australian university students participated in the survey which ran from September 2016 to November 2016.

The full National Report will be available on the Australian Human Rights Commission website at 10.00am on Tuesday 1 August.
