Two students from the Human Resource Management program at the University of Western Sydney have been chosen for positions in the prestigious Ivan Wood HR Career Readiness Program.

Developed by The Next Step(opens in a new window), successful applicants gain access to one-on-one mentoring, professional development opportunities and career planning advice in the last year of their undergraduate degree.

UWS students, Jonathan Wilson and Raina Chandra, were selected for two of the four places available in 2014. The placements will be formally announced in front of 300 Human Resource directors at the end of the year.

Meg Smith, from the UWS School of Business, has praised the achievements of the students.

“To have UWS students chosen for two of the available four positions in this prestigious program is an incredible result,” Dr Smith said.

“The selection process is quite extensive, and the result is a testament to the quality of the Human Resource Management program at UWS.

“The program extends its congratulations to Jonathan and Raina.”

The consultant who oversaw the process, Ed Greenwood from The Next Step, has paid tribute to the students.

“You should be so proud of Jonathon and Raina, we believe it was the strongest year on record,” he says.

“We cannot wait to get them on board and watch them flourish into top HR professionals.”
