Parents develop uni-know-how with the Parent Information Evenings

Applying to university can be a confusing time for both students and their families but help is at hand with the University of Western Sydney Parent Information Evenings.

The Evenings gather parents, guardians, students and University staff members and provide the answers to questions and concerns about starting university.

This free event will be running on the Parramatta campus on 5 July 2012 and the Campbelltown campus on 12 July 2012.

During the evenings there will be a number of presentations that will answer key questions such as:

  • How does my son/daughter apply?
  • What happens if they don't get the ATAR to get in?
  • What is The UWS Advantage?
  • Why study at UWS?
  • How much does it cost to go to Uni?
  • What scholarships are available?

University staff will also be available to answer individual questions. Monica Di Sandro, Prospective Student Advisor Unit Team Leader, says the opportunity to have individual questions answered helps to lessen the anxiety some parents may feel about their children starting university.

“Making the decision to study at university can be an overwhelming process for both students and parents,” says Monica.

“With over half of domestic students at UWS the first in their families to attend university, you can understand why parents appreciate the opportunity to ask questions and demystify the process in a supportive environment.”

Senior school-aged students and their parents and guardians of are invited to attend either together or separately.
