VC welcome message: Delivering a kinder, more caring community for all
The following is Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor George Williams AO’s welcome message to students and staff ahead of the new semester.
Welcome.
We are more than a university; we are a unique community.
Western Sydney University reflects the values of our great region through our diversity, youthfulness and aspiration.
With us, you belong. You can be yourself. You can succeed.
Our mission is to ensure access to a world-class higher education, a great student experience, research that delivers impact, and dynamic, thriving Western Sydney communities.
Delivering our mission depends on all of us, whether you are a new or returning student or a member of staff.
In a challenging and rapidly changing world, kindness and respect matter. Caring, supporting and looking out for each other makes a difference. We must adhere to our values of boldness, excellence, integrity and fairness.
As a university community we have clear expectations of each other. These enable us to work together to achieve our ambitions. At Western Sydney University we prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and communities. We draw clear lines against antisemitism, homophobia, intolerance, Islamophobia, racism or sexism.
I’m proud to lead our university and know your time here with us will be enjoyable, fulfilling and will deliver a future that is unlimited.
I hope you enjoy the semester.
Kind regards
George
