Western Sydney University has formally accepted the Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award for its sector-leading commitment to advancing gender equity in Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine (STEMM).

The award was presented at the 2020 Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) Gala Awards Dinner in Adelaide on Thursday. It follows the development of a four-year Athena SWAN Action Plan (2019-2023) by the University to further support women and trans and gender diverse people in STEMM.

The plan complements the University’s existing policies, programs and initiatives that promote gender equity for staff and students.
