Chancellor's new interview series unlocks Western Sydney leaders' insights
Western Sydney University has launched Tea with the Chancellor, a new content series hosted by Chancellor Professor Jennifer Westacott AC, spotlighting the leaders, innovators, and changemakers who are driving Western Sydney forward.
The series features thoughtful conversations with prominent figures across the region – including past recipients of Western Sydney University honorary awards – and showcases their contributions to one of Australia’s fastest‑growing and most diverse communities.
Professor Westacott said the series builds on the momentum of Unlimited Potential: Western Sydney’s Economic Strategy, the ambitious University-led 30-year economic blueprint she launched in 2024 aimed at reshaping the future of Western Sydney.
“Western Sydney is experiencing an incredible economic and social transformation. As the third largest city economy in Australia, it has the potential to achieve so much more,” Professor Westacott said.
“This series is about exploring the big ideas and bold visions that will help us unlock that future together. Western Sydney is a place of extraordinary potential, and Tea with the Chancellor delves into the leadership, innovation, and collaboration needed to elevate our region’s growth.”
Across the inaugural episodes, Professor Westacott sits down with esteemed guests including:
- The Hon. Marise Payne – reflecting on her distinguished career in public service as a former Australian Senator and the opportunities ahead for Western Sydney.
- Dr Marcus Blackmore AM – discussing business, philanthropy and why Western Sydney matters.
- Professor Iona Novak – sharing insights from her internationally recognised work in cerebral palsy research and her vision for the region’s health future.
“These conversations are a must-listen for anyone passionate about shaping a stronger, more connected Western Sydney,” Professor Westacott said.
“We need industry partners, all levels of government, community organisations and other universities to join Western Sydney University to help unlock the region’s full potential.”
Tea with the Chancellor is part of the University’s ongoing commitment to championing Western Sydney’s economic, cultural, and social transformation, and to strengthening the region’s position as a national powerhouse.
