Western Sydney University spreads Christmas cheer through Chancellor’s Toy Appeal
Western Sydney University is proud to celebrate the generosity and community spirit shown through the annual Chancellor’s Christmas Toy Appeal, which continues to bring joy and hope to children and families across Western Sydney.
This year, the University community donated 602 toys and gifts, helping brighten Christmas for local families doing it tough. Since its inception in 2013, the Appeal has collected more than 4,400 toys and gifts, thanks to the incredible support of staff, students, and the wider University community.
In 2025, the University is delighted to partner with Barnardos Cranebrook, an organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and families experiencing neglect, risk, and complex trauma. Barnardos relies heavily on community donations, and contributions like these make a real difference for families in need this festive season.
Chancellor Professor Jennifer Westacott AC expressed her gratitude to the University community for their ongoing support.
“The Chancellor’s Toy Appeal is a wonderful tradition that reflects the values of Western Sydney University. With the cost of living continuing to impact families, these donations help bring joy and hope to those who need it most,” said Professor Westacott.
The appeal has become a cornerstone of the University’s commitment to community engagement, with toys collected through donation boxes placed across campuses, libraries, and early learning centres. These gifts are then distributed to local charities and organisations that provide vital support to vulnerable families.
On behalf of Western Sydney University, Professor Westacott extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Toy Appeal and wishes the entire community a safe and happy holiday season.
