Learn why students are choosing Western Sydney University this Open Day

Whether finishing high school or exploring career-changing opportunities, prospective students, their families and friends, are invited to take the first step by joining the Western Sydney University community this Open Day, Sunday 6 July at the Parramatta South campus.

More than just a university tour, Open Day is a full-campus experience jam-packed to ensure prospective students leave the day feeling informed, inspired and one step closer to their dream career.

Imagine driving a solar powered car across the Australian desert, joining one of over 80 student clubs with like-minded peers, studying overseas with the Go Global program or representing the University in sport. These are all experiences that prospective students can look forward to discovering when they join Western Sydney University.

This year’s event promises to showcase the University’s state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge courses. Attendees can:

Growing up, first year law student Fatmah didn’t really understand what university was, but when she participated in Western Sydney University’s Academy U program during high school and attended the University’s Open Day, she realised the possibilities.

“Open Day is a great chance to learn something about university and clear up any misconceptions you might have,” said Fatmah.

“Last year, I went to Open Day with my friend, and we travelled from stall-to-stall meeting new people, making new friends, trying good food and of course starting to stock up on my Western Sydney University merchandise collection.

“Visiting the consultations for my planned degree was a bit nerve wracking, but looking back at it now, it’s a pivotal part of my university experience and I think ‘that was actually really fun, imagine if I didn’t go’.

“This inspired me to really take the initiative to enrol in a university that provided the right environment, amenities and community for me to thrive in, and after reflecting on my time in Academy U, seeing the vibrant campus at Open Day, and receiving an early offer, it only felt right that Western Sydney University would be my top choice.”

For Student Services Hub Officer and Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Laws student, Maryana, attending Western Sydney University’s Open Day shortly after arriving in Australia as a refugee, was a pivotal moment in making university in Australia feel achievable.

“Open Day was such a valuable experience – it helped me understand how the university system works here, the types of support available, and which course pathways were open to me,” said Maryana.

“It also gave me a chance to meet students and staff in person, which made everything feel more real and achievable.”

Maryana describes Open Day as a ‘game-changer’, allowing students to see the campus, ask questions, make friends and picture themselves at the University.

“Whether you’re unsure about what to study or confident in your direction, attending Open Day gives you clarity and a sense of belonging.”

Filled with live music, vibrant entertainment, food trucks, stacks of giveaways, plus free activities for families with little ones, Open Day is sure to keep the whole family entertained.
