Celebrate, connect and take action with Western this International Women’s Day
Western Sydney University is celebrating the achievements of women this International Women’s Day with a lineup of events to build connection, share ideas and stories, and take action to enhance gender equity.
From 5 - 13 March, Western will be hosting a series of International Women’s Day events across the University including themed breakfasts and high teas, an awards ceremony, art installations, seminars, and panel discussions.
Under this year’s theme of ‘Accelerate Action’, International Women’s Day 2025 marks a call to action for gender parity and to speed up the of progress worldwide.
According to data from the World Economic Forum, at the current rate of progress it will take until 2158, which is approximately five generations from now, to reach full gender parity.

- 6 March - Women of Western Sydney Award Ceremony and International Women’s Day Celebration hosted by the Office of the Chancellor and Office of the Vice President Public Affairs and Partnerships – A celebration of outstanding women from Western Sydney, Parramatta City campus – Register to attend here (opens in a new window)
- 7 March - IWD Breaking Barriers: Women in STEM (hosted by Student Communities) - an inspiring panel discussion featuring three accomplished women in STEM sharing their journeys, challenges, and triumphs, Parramatta South campus – Register here (opens in a new window)
- 11 March – PROJECT RESPECT launch: Raising awareness through creativity – (hosted by Women’s Collective, The Creative Society, SRC, Inclusive Communities and the Wellbeing and Belonging and Diversity Equity and Inclusion Teams) – Join in for a free breakfast and add to the interactive art installation and dialogue wall launch, Parramatta South campus – More information and register here (opens in a new window)
- 11 March – Leading Diverse Teams panel discussion – coordinated by the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team, this panel will consider how Western’s leaders can develop, retain and support diverse teams. This session will be recorded and made available for all staff.
- 12 March –Thought Leadership Seminar hosted by Western Sydney University Library – Join this discussion led by Western Sydney University experts which will explore the impact of menstrual health across the lifespan, Parramatta City campus or online – Find out more and register (opens in a new window)
