Western Sydney University celebrates research success as experts among world’s Highly Cited

Western Sydney University is pleased to announce six of its researchers, along with two affiliate researchers, have earned a spot on Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers list (opens in a new window) for 2024.

This prestigious recognition highlights researchers who are making a global impact, with their work influencing and shaping their fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers.

Notably, the researchers have achieved this recognition multiple times, a testament to their sustained excellence and making this year’s achievement even more exceptional.

The University’s Highly Cited Researchers for 2024 are:

School of Science

School of Computer, Data and Mathematical Sciences

Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment

NICM Health Research Institute

Special acknowledgement goes to Distinguished Professor Brajesh Singh for his recognition across two categories, Environment and Ecology, and Microbiology.

This dual recognition highlights the broad impact and significance of his research across both fields, underscoring his leadership in shaping key areas of environmental and microbiological science.

Professor Deborah Sweeney, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Enterprise and Global) said inclusion in the Highly Cited Researchers list is a testament not only to the remarkable achievements of individual researchers, but also to the global influence of the University’s entire research community.

“The list recognises researchers whose work shapes their fields, positioning them as leaders in innovation and collaboration. This recognition not only highlights the impact and excellence of the University’s research, it also has a substantial positive impact on Western’s future Academic Ranking of World Universities,” said Professor Sweeney.
