Western strengthens ties with Agri-tech industry in India
Australia and India are strengthening their ties in education, technology and research through new partnerships between Western Sydney University and leading Indian Agri-tech companies.
A University delegation is in India this week, focusing on practical ways to meet the country’s growing demand for industry-ready graduates with the skills and knowledge to address the complex issues facing the global agricultural industry as it undergoes significant change.
As part of the visit, Western has signed five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to provide valuable industry experience and create future-ready graduates able to contribute to the advancement of sustainable Agri-tech solutions.
Western’s Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor George Williams AO said the University was committed to fostering strong links between industry and academia.
“I am delighted to formalise these partnerships with industry which are set to create real-world impacts and deliver innovative solutions to some of the most pressing and complex sustainability issues of our time,” said Professor Williams.
The MoU’s are with Tech Mahindra, UST, Bayer, Sunbiosys, and Timac Agro, and have been crafted to inspire innovative solutions in sustainable agriculture.
The agreements also pave the way to explore customised industry placement and internship programs where students can apply practical and theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges and be exposed to cutting-edge technologies, industry best practices, and emerging trends in agriculture.
