Begin Your Journey at Western Sydney University’s Open Day
Western Sydney University is thrilled to invite prospective students, along with their families and friends, to join us for Open Day at the Parramatta South campus on Sunday, 30 June from 10am – 4pm.
The day promises a vibrant mix of activities, featuring food trucks, live music, entertainment and plenty of prizes and giveaways including the chance to win a Western branded Oodie and Frank Green water bottle.
Importantly, there will be opportunities to speak one-on-one with academics and hear from current students across various presentations and panels throughout the day, from both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as The College, the University’s pathway provider.
Those attending are also invited to check out the interactive tours and demonstrations showcasing the University’s state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities throughout the day.
These include high-tech nursing and midwifery labs designed to simulate a contemporary hospital ward setting, law students in action in a live courtroom setting at the Moot Court, Pepper the world's first humanoid robot capable of recognising human emotions, and a TV Studio.
There will also be the opportunity to experience innovation firsthand, giving attendees the chance to engage with the ‘Spot’ robot, unleash creativity on the augmented reality (AR) graffiti wall, test their speed on the interactive reaction wall and conquer the rocket building challenge.
The University is once again hosting Open Day earlier this year, giving current high school leavers the perfect opportunity to explore their future study and career paths in a lively and informative setting before their upcoming HSC trial exams, including learning more about the University’s highly successful HSC True Reward program.
Students are also invited to prepare for their HSC exams by attending a HSC Study Tips and Tricks presentation.
The College is launching modular learning in 2025 and have created a new suite of courses aligned to in-demand job industries. It provides students with the opportunity to learn in smaller workshop style classes, focused on one course-specific subject at a time with no exams or lectures, and access to unmatched support including a dedicated Student Success Coach.
With flexible pathway options including graduating with the skills needed for in-demand positions or transitioning into one of the multiple degree options at Western Sydney University, Open Day is the perfect opportunity for prospective students to find out more about the new diploma courses providing an immersive study experience.
Those attending with children can enjoy the Kids Corner, with free craft activities and science magic shows throughout the day, designed to keep little ones entertained.
Sarah is one of the friendly faces who will be at Open Day, eager to help prospective students uncover the opportunities that lie ahead. Having attended Open Day herself, in her final year of high school studies, Sarah found it to be an exciting opportunity to get a taste of the vibrant campus life and a pivotal moment in deciding her future.
“For me, Open Day was a great opportunity to meet academics and find out what to expect at the University. It is also a fun day, with the opportunity to play games, visit our student clubs, meet current students, and just enjoy the vibe at Parramatta campus,” said Sarah.
“Western Sydney University has so many opportunities for a whole range of students, from students who lack confidence in their study skills through to high achievers. After attending Open Day and chatting with the academics from The College I knew it was the right choice for me.”
Prospective students will have ample opportunity to get hands-on experience and discover why Western Sydney University has been named number one in the world for its social, ecological and economic impact for the third year in a row in the prestigious Times Higher Education Impact rankings – the first time any University in the world has achieved such a triple feat.
Sustainability will be a key feature of Open Day to minimise waste and go easy on the environment, including refillable water stations available for all to enjoy.
Parramatta Engineering Innovation Hub (PEIH) will also be open to explore on the day, with tours running throughout the day.
Getting to the event couldn’t be easier, by taking public transport and making use of the free shuttle bus service that runs to the Parramatta South campus from the Parramatta City campus (169 Macquarie Street), which is adjacent to Parramatta Station.
Student ambassadors will be available to assist with catching the University shuttle from the Parramatta City and Parramatta South campus’ to PEIH for the tours.
Free parking will also be available at Rosehill Racecourse with free shuttle buses taking guests to campus. Limited parking is available at the Parramatta South campus.
