The Western Sydney University community has once again come together with generosity to donate over 400 toys for the 2023 Chancellor’s Toy Appeal.
While the appeal is in its ninth year, this is the first year with the University’s Chancellor Professor Jennifer Westacott AO at the helm.
The toy appeal brings the University community together to provide toys to a number of grassroots community groups that support vulnerable families and children across the western Sydney region.
This year those community groups include, Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections, Nepean Community and Neighbourhood Services, Parramatta Mission, and Narang Bir rong Aboriginal Corporation.
Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections work with diverse communities to help at a grassroots level to provide both direct relief from poverty and the tools to create bright futures. The group works with over 22,000 people annually through their programs.
Nepean Community and Neighbourhood Services provide aid and assistance to residents of the Nepean area along with the Blue Mountains and Lithgow areas. They work together through a model of partnership and collaboration, providing quality programs to support disadvantaged and vulnerable members of the local community to enable strength.
Parramatta Mission works with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of the community in our communities to assist them in transforming their lives. They work to provide meals and shelter to help provide them a safe place and support.
Narang Bir rong Aboriginal Corporation provides culturally and spiritually stable homes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families. They programs help support children and young people meet their social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Western Sydney University is proud to be able to support these groups and their ongoing work with the community.
Chancellor, Professor Jennifer Westacott AO, would like to thank all staff and students who have donated and continued to support the Chancellor's Christmas Toy Appeal.
Western Sydney University wishes everyone an incredibly happy Christmas, and a safe and restful holiday season.
