Western Sydney University researchers among world’s most highly-cited

Western Sydney University researchers have been named among the most highly-cited in the world as part of this year’s Clarivate’s Highly Cited (HiCis) Researchers list.
Six University researchers and four affiliate researchers were named among the prestigious list for 2022.
Professor Deborah Sweeney, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Enterprise and International), offered her congratulations to the researchers.
“This outstanding result affirms the high quality and impact of the University’s world-class research, and will have a substantial positive impact on Western’s future Academic Ranking of World Universities,” said Professor Sweeney.
“I congratulate the researchers, who through their innovative work at the University, are addressing the critical issues affecting our world and region.”

Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers list uses analysis to identify individuals from across the globe who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their chosen field, with the preliminary list drawn from the highly cited papers that rank in the top 1 per cent by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index over the past decade.
This year’s list recognised 6,938 researchers from more than 69 countries, with Australia having the fifth-largest number of highly cited researchers in the world at 337 researchers.
