Western Sydney University hosts Ukraine’s ambassador to Australia for insightful Q&A
Western Sydney University will host the Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, His Excellency Mr Vasyl Myroshnychenko, as part of an insightful Q&A at the University’s Parramatta City campus on Thursday, 1 September.
During the event, Ambassador Myroshnychenko will address students, staff and the community about the unprovoked attack against Ukraine by Russia, providing an update on the current state of the nation and answering questions from the audience.
Western Sydney University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Barney Glover AO, said the University is proud to host the Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia and offer students, staff and the community an opportunity to hear firsthand about the situation in Ukraine.
“Western Sydney University stands in concert with the international community in condemning the unprovoked attack against Ukraine by Russia and affirms that the people of Ukraine have the right to freedom, self-determination and access to education. We look forward to hearing from Ambassador Myroshnychenko as part of this important event,” said Professor Glover.
The University acknowledges the stress and difficulties being endured by many of its students, staff and members of the communities in Western Sydney as a result of the attack on Ukraine, and continues to provide support to these communities and individuals.
This event is part of an ongoing series led by Western Sydney University’s Social Justice Network – a network committed to providing opportunities to the community and people of Western Sydney to critically discuss issues impacting social injustices of the region and the world.
Chair of the University’s Social Justice Network, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Engagement and Advancement, Professor Alphia Possamai-Inesedy, said the Network is pleased to host Ambassador Myroshnychenko and thanked him for taking time out of his busy schedule to speak with students, staff and the community.
