Message of support for Iran
Western Sydney University stands in solidarity with the people in Iran during this time of civil unrest, and we extend our support to anyone in our University community who may be affected by the current events.
As a long-standing Employer of Choice for Gender Equality, Western Sydney University remains committed to championing the rights of women both in our community and around the world. The current situation in Iran is deeply devastating, and the University extends sympathies to those who are suffering, both locally and abroad.
The Western Persian Society is hosting an information evening and candlelight vigil this evening, Tuesday 4 October between 6.00pm -7.00pm, at the Parramatta City campus. The vigil is an opportunity for students and staff to join together in solidarity, in memory of Mahsa Amini and other brave lives lost recently in Iran. For more details and to register attendance, visit WesternLife (opens in a new window).
A student community dinner will be held at Parramatta South campus on 13 October and will focus on Iranian students, as well as Sri Lankan and Afghan students as a way to communicate resilience and that we are all here for each other. Students can register online via WesternLife (opens in a new window) to attend.
