Excellence in Australian Research Council LIEF grants to power new collaborations

Western Sydney University researchers will forge new scientific infrastructure partnerships, as the recipients of five prestigious Australian Research Council Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (ARC-LIEF) grants for 2021.

The LIEF grant scheme enables researchers to participate in co-operative initiatives that allows expensive research infrastructure, equipment and facilities to be shared between higher education organisations and industry partners. The scheme also fosters collaboration through its support of the co-operative use of national and international research facilities.

“World-class science demands access to the latest equipment and facilities,” said Professor Deborah Sweeney, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President (Research, Enterprise and International).

“These innovative partnerships extend the capabilities of our researchers, to uncover new findings and deliver new insights in priority areas such as astronomy, microscopy and construction.”
