Western Sydney University named employer of choice for gender equality
Western Sydney University has once again been recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) for the 15th consecutive year.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Barney Glover AO said the citation is a result of the University’s ongoing commitment to providing an inclusive and fair workplace culture.
“Our active involvement and achievement in areas such as learning and development, leadership, pay equity, flexible work initiatives, employee consultation and the prevention of sex-based harassment and discrimination, has seen the University recognised once again as a leader in gender equality,” said Professor Glover.
“This recognition reflects the ongoing importance of strategies outlined in our Gender Equality and Workplace Flexibility policies, and reinforces our responsibility to uphold a culture of inclusion and diversity for all.”
As part of its commitment to gender equality, the University is enacting its Gender Equality Strategy and Action Plan 2015-2020 (opens in a new window) alongside initiatives such as the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) program to promote gender equity and gender diversity in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM), for which the University recently received an Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award.
