Our Pathway to Teaching degrees in Arts, Business, Health Science (HPE), Graphic Design or Science give you access to a wide range of subject majors, where you can go on to do a Master of Teaching and become an inspiring early childhood, primary or secondary school teacher.

The Bachelor of Education (Primary) is a highly sought after degree for students looking to undertake an undergraduate degree in primary teaching. The program has been designed to target high-achieving students in order to reinforce excellence of being a member of the teaching profession. Students are involved and engaged in work integrated learning at the outset of their degree, with a placement in school in the first year, where students can choose to study electives such as inclusive education, sustainability or science.

The Bachelor of Arts pathway programs to a Master of Teaching is a four to four-and-a-half year full-time or eight to nine-year part-time program. The course consists of a three-year full-time or six-year part-time Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a one-and-a-half-year to two year full-time or four-year part-time Master of Teaching. You can complete either a Birth-5/Birth-12, Primary or Secondary teaching pathway degree.

The first three years of study in the Arts components will allow you to focus on a general program of your choice and to structure your units of study to gain the necessary learning areas to satisfy the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) discipline knowledge requirements for entry into teaching. Students also undertake a Primary Teaching Specialisation in one of the following areas: English, Mathematics or Science. The Master of Teaching (Primary) degree also gives you the accreditation and includes the placements.

Students will engage in approximately 80 days of practical learning in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years of study. Students will learn how to interpret student assessment data to inform their planning and teaching, develop an understanding of diverse learners within specific school and classroom contexts and to design and teach experiences in ways that will enhance student engagement and student learning outcomes.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) will meet the Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers. Professional accreditation by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) is currently being sought.
