Social Design's mission is to connect, collaborate and lead social change initiatives. The students developed 22 campaigns in response to a series of powerful briefs about challenges we face as a society.

Learning about lighting and style

Spring, 2018. An all day Industry Visit from Sydney based Fashion Photographer Ben Scott. Ben conducted a full day workshop with our students speaking to them about the industry, building a vision, and demonstrating lighting techniques.

Course Frequently Asked Questions

Graduates are eligible for membership of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA).

The majors you can choose include illustration, interactive design, photo media, and digital design. There is also the option to study an additional sub-major, which is advertising studies. 

In your second and third years, you will choose to specialise in the key areas of illustration, interactive media and/or photo-media. You can also study elective units in advertising, journalism, media arts production, and public relations.

Graduates of this degree can look forward to career opportunities as an illustrator, art director, design educator, photographer, and interactive, games, web, or graphic designer.

Our fourth-year Professional program features our award-winning in-house studio, where you will gain experience in a professional team-based environment.

The Dean's Scholars program is exclusively for high-achieving students and will continually challenge you to build on your academic success. Students in the Dean’s Scholars program are automatically enrolled in The Academy at Western Sydney University, which offers interdisciplinary leadership programs, professional development, and local and international internship and engagement opportunities for students.
