Inequalities and relational operators
In mathematics we have symbols to represent when things are the sane or when they are different.
Equal and not equal
In mathematics when two numbers or quantities are the same we say they are equal and we use the equals sign, "=". For example 5−3=2. That is 5−3 is the same as 2, or 5−3 is equal to 2.
If two numbers or quantities are not the same, we say they are not equal and we use the symbol "≠". For example 3+2≠3+3. That is 3+2 is 5 and is not equal to 6 which is the amswer to 3+3.
