Abseiling for BabyLab! Western Giving Day

Our first ever Giving Day is just around the corner - Wednesday 4th September - in which we have just 24 hours to come together to make a genuine difference to the things we're most passionate about at Western Sydney University.

Giving Day includes the Chancellor’s Challenge – the Chancellor and friends will abseil from the 9th storey of our vertical campus in central Parramatta to raise awareness and funds for research programs across the university. The Chancellor, Professor Peter Shergold AC, has chosen BabyLab as his program of choice to benefit from the abseil challenge!

Professor Shergold explains why he has decided to support BabyLab on Giving Day: "As a devoted Granddad, I have decided to fundraise for the University’s BabyLab. The BabyLab, uses parent/child play-based interaction to study early communication, cognition and social-emotional development. I'm inspired by the talented and hardworking researchers at BabyLab who are unlocking important new knowledge relating to dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, specific language impairment or sensory disorders."

Three of our brave MARCS colleagues are joining the Chancellor abseiling in support of the great work BabyLab performs – Christa Lam-Cassettari, Peter Keller and Jen Armstrong. Funds raised through the Chancellor’s Challenge will contribute to BabyLab’s research on the ingredients for a healthy start to life, the seeds of literacy, student training and programs that support kids who might struggle with speech or other aspects of communicating and interacting.

Will you help sponsor Christa, Peter or Jen as they abseil for BabyLab? $2, $5, $100, no amount is too small or too large.
