11am-12pm - MARCS Research Meeting
Topic: Music as a Social-Communicative Signal
Speaker: Professor Peter Keller
I will present the results of two studies that explored how humans modulate their musical behaviour to increase the potency of their connection with others. The first study addressed the social-communicative functions of the singer’s formant in public displays of choral music. In contrast, the second study surveyed background music to facilitate intimate rhythmic interpersonal coordination in presumably more private settings.
We thank you for your continued attendance at the MRM's and look forward to seeing you again.
MARCS staff and students are reminded that all meetings and workshops have an important role in building and maintaining the sense of community which is central to the success of MARCS as a cooperative and energetic research institute. Your attendance is both welcomed and expected.
Disclaimer: MRM meetings may be recorded on Zoom for future access to MARCS members
