MARCS Institute Research Concept Pitch
To maximise the quality and success rates of applications being submitted in 2021, the MARCS Research Concept Pitch event on 17 August, will present brief draft ideas for new projects, including Australian Competitive and other types of grants, and research contracts.
This year we are trialling a new format whereby pitchers will be allocated to Zoom breakout rooms to present to a small group and receive cross-disciplinary feedback in a more informal manner. Presentations at the pitch party will be 5 minutes long with an additional 5 minutes question time per researcher.
Concept Pitches will include the basic research idea/question, context and challenge to be addressed, and, if possible, the following: proposed team; potential theoretical, methodological or applied approach to be used; future impact/benefit/end users the idea may have; funding source/scheme; indicative total budget; and mentor for the concept as appropriate.
This year our pitchers include:
- Dr. Saeed Afshar
- Dr. Fiona Andreallo
- A/Prof. Greg Cohen
- Prof. Paola Escudero
- Dr. Sandra Garrido
- Dr. Phil Howson
- Dr. Moritz Milde
- Dr. Ying Xu
Topics will range from Cross-Linguistic Acquisition, Lightening Hunters, Sad Music in Migrant Populations, Neuromorphic Predictive Algorithms, Infant Language Development, to Social Robot use in Aged Care and more.
Please join us for this interactive event and we look forward to hearing your questions and feedback for our pitchers during the session.
