"Vision despite disruption; perception around the time of eye movements"

Overview of Presentation:

We are generally unaware that we make several eye movements per second. Each eye movement we make should have a profound effect on vision. The brain should need to act to piece together the changes in the visual scene caused by moving our eyes and to reduce the disruptive effect of the motion of the eye itself. Recent research questions how active the visual brain really is in suppressing the disturbing sense of motion that could be perceived with each eye movement. This talk will explore the extent to which the visual brain actively engages in creating the illusory sense of a stable and continuous world despite the many eye movements we make.

We look forward to seeing you there!

MARCS Students and Academic Staff are reminded that MMMs have an important role in building and maintaining the sense of community which is central to the success of MARCS as a cooperative and energetic research institute.  Your attendance is both welcomed and expected.
