Biography
Before joining the School of Humanities and Communication Arts as Lecturer in Linguistics and as a member of MARCS, Robert held positions in the US (Arizona State University), Australia (Australian National University) and in Germany (University of Munich and Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt).
Robert's range of research interests is very broad with concentrations on Historical Linguistics, Language Documentation, Phonetics & Phonology and Morphology.
Research Interests
- Documentation of Amurdak, an Indigenous Australian language
- The phonetics of retroflex consonants
- Origin and implementation of syllable cut prosody
- Development of the Passive in English and German
- Plural marking in Quechan, a Native American language
- Languages in prehistoric Europe
