Thesis Title

Perceptual adaptation to Vietnamese-accented English

Research Project

I am interested in perceptual adaptation to foreign-accented speech, and how expectations derived from social attitudes can affect the process. My current research specifically focuses on Vietnamese-accented speech, since it's an interesting type of accented speech in terms of intelligibility (and it is also my native language).

I am also interested in the technological aspects of speech. Thus, I hope I will be able to do some computational modeling with my research either during my PhD or after, and gradually get myself acquainted to the Automatic Speech Recognition arena. That is where I'm thinking of going after my PhD.
