Thesis Title

Generation of perceptible events by means of timbral transformation.

Research Project

Different sounding sounds are perceived as sounding different. Shocking, I know! How different though? And would knowing thresholds for sound perception (besides the common suspects of pitch and loudness) actually make any difference for musicians/composers? Do different sound manipulations have different impact on the perception of rhythm? If music is primarily timbre-driven in some modern genres and production techniques, might as well try to find out what that actually means for musician and audience.
