Professor of Justice Research
Biography
David Tait is Professor of Justice Research in the School of Humanities and Communication Arts. He examines how rituals, spatial arrangements and technology shape human experiences and responses, focusing on courts and tribunals. He has carried out several randomised controlled trials in courtroom settings, and is currently working on designing courts that operate in virtual reality. Current research projects include
"Just spaces: security without prejudice in the wireless courtroom", a study of the position of the accused in court (ARC project
"The distributed court", the use of immersive video technologies in court (funded by NSW Department of Justice)
"Mobile technologies in the courtroom", study of iPads used both for display and jury deliberation
