Biography

My research strives to make fundamental discoveries that will assist the future of brain-computer interface technology. In particular, I measure human brain activity with ultra-high field functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with the aim to define the precise neuro-circuitry and computations giving rise to human visual perception.

I completed my PhD research at the University of Sydney and the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, Germany. I subsequently moved to Berlin to take up an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin.

I became a proud member Western Sydney University’s academic staff in 2017. I am also an Honorary Associate of UNSW and Macquarie University.

• The neural basis of human visual awareness
• Perceptual inference and predictive coding
• Altered visual perception in psychosis
• The neural basis of hallucinations
