Teaching Transformation

The University Executive has endorsed a new Professional Development Framework (DOCX, 42.15 KB) (opens in a new window) to support staff in developing teaching, learning and research expertise in alignment with strategic transformations.

The Learning Futures Portfolio provides support and expert advice for staff in designing and enhancing learning in technology rich and leaner focused environments. A good first point of contact for staff in Schools is your School Curriculum Advisor (opens in a new window). Deans and Deputy Deans regularly discuss their School professional development priorities with PVCs and the Portfolio is working with the Senate Education Committee to extend the range of professional development opportunities and resources for staff.

Designing for Learning Showcases are run throughout the year to share ideas across schools and to recognise innovation in learning and teaching.

Western Sydney University has a vibrant teaching community.  One of the ways we nurture our teaching community is through teaching awards (opens in a new window).  Read about some of the amazing previous winners (opens in a new window) and get inspired.

Schools provide an Induction to Learning and Teaching (opens in a new window) each semester for new sessional teaching staff, supported by central resource materials and advice from the Portfolio.

The Foundations of University Learning and Teaching (FULT) (opens in a new window) program is a professional development program for all new full-time teaching staff. The semester long program explores what 'student focused' means at Western Sydney and equips staff as expert teachers in today's technology rich learning environments.
