Learning Experience

Our Learning Experience Team sits within the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Learning and Teaching. The team is led by our Director, Learning Experience, Dr Kristin Wiese, and is made up of a team of Learning Designers, Educational Advisors, LX/UX Designers, Creative Content Specialists, Learning Resource Developers, and Digital Learning Advisors.

The Learning Experience team focuses on empowering academics by developing their skills to build and deliver engaging and distinctive learning experiences and to optimise Western's digital teaching and learning tools. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth, we enable educators to deliver pedagogically sound and effective learning experiences for our students, whilst simultaneously developing their digital confidence and capability.

The migration to Blackboard Ultra

The Learning Experience team are currently managing the migration to our new Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard Ultra. Our new LMS is based on a set of guiding principles that have been shaped through student feedback, partnership work, and evidence-informed pedagogy to create a clear and consistent foundation for learning. Ultra's guiding principles reflect our shared teaching values, supporting belonging, accessibility, and high-quality learning experiences at scale.
