A collaboration between the WSU Chinese Medicine Centre and the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (SAFS) program focuses on the propagation and demonstration of health promoting plants. Focusing initially on Chinese complementary medicinal herbs, seed and plant stock has been sourced and is being propagated in a greenhouse with support from the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Student Collective. Building upon the medicinal herb garden at Campbelltown campus, a demonstration area is being developed with bilingual botanical information. A visit by the Beijing University of Complementary Medicine is scheduled for late September to discuss developing strategy and collaboration. Further stages of development will include Australian native medicinal plants.
