Built infrastructure and services contribute to sustainable campus operations on Parramatta campus. Videography sessions have included a focus on the 6 Star Green Star Science Building (EHa), with it’s innovative construction and passive design with Dr Maryella Hatfield and a group of Western Sydney students. The campus Central Energy Plant (EDa) is another key focus, where peak load metering is linked to load shedding across a network of building management systems (BMS), and high efficiency evacuated tube solar hot water heating provides preheating and offsets the need for gas boilers. Another key operational focus is on the use of waste compaction technologies, with waste being further sorted off campus in Materials Recycling Facilities. This has resulted in substantive diversion of waste away from landfill and recycling rates of over 90%.
