Student Compliance

The Student Compliance team within the Placements Hub, is a central team that works closely with Schools here at Western to provide management and maintenance of student compliance requirements and data.

Who requires NSW Health Student Compliance?

Students in a degree in which they will be entering a NSW Health facility as part of any fieldwork, research or clinical placement are required to be assessed as compliant with NSW Health student placement policy requirements.

What does that mean?

You need to be assessed through a process known as ‘Student Compliance’. It is a mandatory, legislative and regulatory requirement, and you cannot attend a placement without it. You need it to demonstrate you are ready for placement. To assist you, you will been assigned an Interview for this purpose by the  Placements team.

Western and our placement partners have a duty of care to ensure your safety, and the safety of the people you will interact with. It is each student’s responsibility to complete all student compliance requirements and provide evidence of compliance as part of the NSW Health verification process prior to attending fieldwork, research or clinical placement in a NSW Health Facility.

How do I become compliant?

You will be required to attend a Student Compliance Interview with NSW Health staff in the first year of your course. The Compliance Team will contact you with your interview date, time and location. It is mandatory to attend.

Failure to meet Student Compliance requirements could result in you being denied entry to a NSW Health facility and may jeopardise your progression in the associated unit.
