Curriculum Mapping Tool

A tool to support strategic change in higher education

The new online version of the Curriculum Mapping Tool (CMT) will enable the production of visual and summary data of academic programs so the institution can demonstrate the full alignment of course and unit learning outcomes and assessment across and within segments of a course. This will greatly assist the schools to develop coherent scaffolding of student learning. Curriculum mapping is designed to be part of and to inform curriculum review and redesign.

The fundamental aim of the tool was to enable unit (subject) learning outcomes to be mapped to course learning outcomes of a program of study, as well as the university graduate attributes to show how and when these outcomes are taught and developed.

This core curriculum tool will also be used by a range of stakeholders including academic teams and learning and teaching support staff to explicitly integrate and embed generic skills and higher order attributes articulated through the university's graduate attributes. Its widespread use to date is indication of its utility, and has resulted in positive feedback from internal end-users, including academics and teaching development staff, as well as a range of professional accrediting bodies.

How to log in for existing users

Note: The CMT tool has been tested to be compatible with the University preferred browser Internet Explorer.

You will find that the navigation and functionality of the new version to be almost same as the previous Access Database version. Some slight changes include:

  • Ability to log in via a web browser
  • Improved visibility
  • Easier navigation.

As all the data has been successfully migrated to the web based version, please DO NOT use the CMT Access database version of the CMT, as it has now been disabled.

Support

The IT Service Desk (opens in a new window) is the point of contact for technical matters including requesting new user access and reporting log in issues and error messages. Course Quality Officers in your school will be able to grant access to courses and units to staff with view and edit access. The Service Desk will set up and change user access levels but will not grant access to courses or units.

The Learning Transformations team will continue to provide specialised CMT support and training. You are encouraged to refer to the comprehensive user guide (DOCX, 2715.1 KB), which is also published on the MyIT Portal (Knowledge article KB0013464), and to use the CMT Yammer group for advice from other CMT users in the first instance.
