WesternX (opens in a new window) aims to develop and deliver a suite of microcredentials targeted at servicing four priority areas: Transition into University, Business to Business, Continuous Professional Development of our Industry Partners, and the capability development of our People.
Transition
Western Microcredentials will serve as teasers into full qualifications offered by Western Sydney University. Leveraging off of existing curriculum, Western Microcredentials can be designed to not only build skills and capability of those who engage with the content, but also serve as a potential future pipeline into further Post Graduate and Undergraduate offerings at Western. These high volume, low cost, stackable offerings are designed to inspire users onto further studies.
Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
Western Microcredentials will service the needs of our alumni and our industry partners whose workforce requires continuous professional development. These Western Microcredentials will learn from the existing practices of several areas right across Western, to further leverage the Western brand and become the provider of choice for CPD products in Greater Western Sydney.
Business to Business (B2B)
Western Microcredentials will showcase Western’s ability to work with our vast Industry, Government, and Community networks to offer customised training and education solutions to service the needs of their growing and evolving workforce. Industry 4.0 will force the University and our partners to re-think the demands of their industries into the future. Leveraging off of our current B2B capabilities, these Western Microcredentials would aim to fill capability gaps identified by our partners with online, technology-rich solutions for their workforce today and into the future.
Our People at Western
It is important to recognise that Western Microcredentials are also intended to service the needs of Our People. Western Microcredentials are designed so they can be incorporated into the Professional Development of staff at Western, as well as being plugged into existing curriculum of our students to allow for currency, flexibility, and agility during these ever-changing times.
