If you have a question which has not been answered in the below, please contact the 21C Project team on 21C@westernsydney.edu.au.
Q. The Curiosity Pod doesn't look like it relates directly to my degree. Why would I enrol?
A. The beauty of Curiosity Pods is that they expand your mindset and capabilities. They are intended to push you out of your degree comfort zone. As bite sized pieces of learning, the topics and activities have been co-created with partners (including students) to be exciting, interactive, relevant and engaging. Once you complete the Curiosity Pod, you will have added a new suite of hybrid capabilities to your skill set.
Q. How much does a Curiosity Pod cost?
A. Nothing, it's completely free!
Q. Who can enrol in a Curiosity Pod?
A. Any Western Sydney University student from any degree, in any year of their study.
Q. How do I access the Curiosity Pod
A short description of the suite of Curiosity Pods is available on the Curiosity Pod web page (opens in a new window). Once you have registered (use your Western student number only and password), you will be given access to the Curiosity Pod's specific vUWS site where you can access all the relevant information. For the time being and given the current COVID-19 situation, all Curiosity Pods will be fully online.
Q. How long does a Curiosity Pod take to complete?
A. A Curiosity Pod involves between 15-30 hours of learning effort from you. Those hours may last a number of specified weeks with activities taking place at certain times, or you can engage at your own pace, in your own time. Each one is organised slightly differently so contact the staff member associated with the Curiosity Pod you're keen on.
Q. What happens if I don't complete the Curiosity Pod in the specified time?
A. When you complete a Curiosity Pod (likely recognised by a task you do, a piece of work you submit or an event you participate in) your record of successful completion will be in the form of Digital Badge and/or Certificate of Completion. Because each Curiosity Pod is structured slightly differently, you will need to check the requirements for completing it. Some will require you complete it during the time it is on offer; others may allow you to take a longer period to finish the completion task.
If you are taking a Curiosity Pod because it is embedded in a unit you are formally enrolled in, the Learning Guide will indicate whether (and/or how) completing the Curiosity Pod contributes to the assessment of the unit (as well as the timing).
Q. Can I enrol in more than one Curiosity Pod at a time?
A. Yes, you can. The timing of some Curiosity Pods may overlap during teaching sessions so please ensure that you do not over commit yourself.
Q. What if I register and then cannot commence?
A. Please email the staff contact for the Curiosity Pod to advise them that you are now unable to start.
Q. Can my friend do the Curiosity Pod if they are not a Western student?
A. Currently, Curiosity Pods are only being offered to students of Western Sydney University. However, please ask your friend to stay in touch. We are planning to open these up to the wider community soon.
Q. Where can I find the completion survey for the Curiosity Pod I have just finished?
A. The completion survey for each Curiosity Pod will be available shortly after all live events in the Curiosity Pod have been held. The link will be located in the vUWS site for the Curiosity Pod, and a vUWS announcement made when the survey is available.
