Nirimba Academic Excellence Scholarship

The Nirimba campus is situated in the suburb of Quakers Hill in the Blacktown Local Government Area. The University campus forms part of the Nirimba Education Precinct -  a shared site with TAFE, Wyndham College and St John Paul II Catholic College.

Through the Nirimba Academic Excellence Scholarship, motivated students from Wyndham College and St John Paul II Catholic College are invited to undertake a unit of study at Western Sydney University during Year 11.

As part of the scholarship, students will receive a $500 one-off payment in their HSC year.

Students who receive a Distinction or High Distinction in the unit they study, will be offered a conditional Academic Excellence Scholarship valued at up to $20,000.

Value

HSC grant:

  • $500 one-off payment in your HSC year

Academic Excellence Scholarship:

  • $5,000 per year (or part-time equivalent) for up to four years for an approved undergraduate degree at Western Sydney University

Year 11 students enrolled at Wyndham College and St John Paul II Catholic College

  • Bachelor of Arts (Pathway to Teaching Birth–5 – Birth–12)/M Teaching (Birth–5 Years/Birth–12 Years) Diploma pathway
  • Bachelor of Education (Primary) – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education
  • Doctor of Medicine
  • Bachelor of Midwifery
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy
  • Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse pathway)
  • Bachelor of Community and Social Development
  • Diploma Community and Social Development

Criteria

To receive a conditional Academic Excellence Scholarship, students must:

  • Be Australian citizens or permanent residents
  • Be enrolled in an approved Western Sydney University undergraduate course or advanced undergraduate course
  • Nominate an approved Western Sydney University undergraduate course as a preference in their top three (3) preferences via the University Admissions Centre

Application and Selection Process

Students are invited to participate in the program by nomination from their School.

After completing a unit at Western Sydney University, students will automatically receive the grant in their HSC year.

Students will also be automatically assessed for the conditional Academic Excellence Scholarship.

Eligible students will receive a scholarship offer by email in December of their HSC year.
