Criteria

Applicants must:

  • be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia
  • have resided in the Campbelltown local government area for at least twelve months prior to the commencement of study
  • demonstrate involvement with and contributions to the community, providing evidence of leadership, motivation and attitude
  • be enthusiastic ambassadors for Campbelltown and be willing to take an active role in supporting their community through such opportunities as attendance at Council and other events

Campbelltown City Council, in memory of Ian Porter

Campbelltown City Council has dedicated this scholarship to the memory of Ian Slade Porter, General Manager of Campbelltown City Council 1988-1999. Ian was a man of great integrity whose leadership and vision brought Campbelltown to the forefront of local government in NSW. He was totally committed to his community and to the principle of access to education for all of its citizens.

In the field of education, Ian was a lecturer in local government administration, a long-standing member of the University's Macarthur Council and Chairman of the University's Macarthur Consultative Committee. This scholarship perpetuates the memory of Ian and his immense contribution to the Campbelltown community, which will be remembered well into the 21st Century.

Applications and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement in support of their application indicating how they believe the receipt of the scholarship will assist them with their studies and in their future career. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, their ability to meet the criteria and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
