Postdoctoral Fellow
Kiu-wai Chu is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Australia-China Institute for Arts and Culture (ACIAC), Western Sydney University. Prior to coming to Australia, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies, University of Zurich. He received his education in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and United States. He earned his PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of Hong Kong and his previous degrees from SOAS, University of London, and the University of Cambridge. From 2012 to 2013, he was named a Junior Fulbright Scholar and spent time at the University of Idaho to work with leading scholars in ecocriticism.
Kiu-wai has taught programmes in China and Asian Studies, and Art, Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, HKU SPACE and the University of Zurich. He was an examiner of Hong Kong Arts Development Council in the Film and Media Arts Division between 2007-2015.
His research focuses on contemporary cinema and art in China, and broader East and Southeast Asia; Ecocriticism and environmental humanities.
