Senior Research Fellow
Dr Rae Dufty-Jones is an economic and social geographer who has expertise in the governance of mobility and its relationship to public policy (specifically housing, regional development and internal migration). She is the President of the Geographical Society of New South Wales.
Rae's current research projects include: 'Mobility aspirations of tenants listing on the "Our House Swap" website' and the 'Werrington Park Corporate Centre Evaluation'. Her past research work has been funded by nationally competitive grants including the Australian Research Council (ARC); the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI); and, the federal Department of Environment. Rae's research has investigated: Australian housing policy and mobility; peri-urban economic development; the restructuring of horticultural industries; rural youth migration; and ethnic discrimination in housing.
Through her role as the School of Social Sciences academic course advisor for the Masters of Research program Rae has also developed a research program on the 'Writing pedagogies and the role of space'.
Before joining WSU in February 2010, Rae was previous employed as a Lecturer in Geography and Planning at the University of New England (2008-2010) after completing her PhD at the University of New South Wales (2008).
