The aim of this series is to introduce HDR students to key theorists and concepts of central importance to sociocultural thought. With presentations from experts from within the Institute for Culture and Society and beyond, each session will involve a one hour lecture followed by 30 minutes of questions and discussion.

Each lecture will address the following:

  • The social and historical context of this theorist and/or area of thought
  • A general overview of this theorist and/or area of thought
  • The genealogical lineage of this theorist’s work and/or area of thought
  • Critique of this theorist’s work and/or area of thought
  • Possible applications of this theorist’s work and/or area of thought
  • Supplementary readings
