China Writers Association (CWA) and Western Sydney University (WSU), via WSU’s Australia-China Institute for Arts and Culture and the Writing and Society Research Centre, are co-hosting the inaugural online forum entitled Chinese and Australian Writers in Dialogue on 10 December 2020.

This online dialogue builds on the successes of the five China Australia Literary Forums which took place between 2011 and 2020 in China and Australia, in a collaboration between the China Writers Association and the Writing and Society Research Centre at WSU.

The theme of this online forum is “Pandemic. Reflection. Creation.”

Six Chinese writers including Xu Zechen 徐则臣, Zhou Xiaofeng 周晓枫, Han Song 韩松, Tangjia Sanshao 唐家三少, Huo Junming 霍俊明, and Baoer Jinna 鲍尔金娜 will meet six Australian writers including Melissa Lucashenko, Lisa Gorton, Michael Farrell, Felicity Castagna, Luke Carman and Anchuli Felicia King online and explore new ways of continuing creative exchange during the global pandemic.

The forum presents a timely opportunity to share their individual experiences and creative thoughts in these unprecedented times, and to discuss the role and responsibility of literature in the years to come.
