However, the following majors are now available to commencing students: AgriFood, Environmental Health, Innovative Foods, Sustainable Environmental Futures, Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, Applied Physics, Zoology & Animal Science. Students also have the option of doing a second major from a prescribed list available in the course handbook.

As a Science graduate you can look forward to career opportunities in a range of areas including science-based work in industry, Government environmental agencies, forensic science, patent work and quality control.
Career options as a Medical Science graduate include positions in medical research, hospital, and pathology laboratories, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, Government health departments, scientific sales, and quality assurance. Graduate entry into secondary teaching (with further study) is also a possibility. This degree also provides a strong foundation for students wishing to pursue medicine and pharmacy courses.
The advanced program for both Science and Medical Science is designed for high-achieving students wanting to extend their studies. You will undertake advanced coursework topics, extension activities and additional research-based training. Students in the Advanced degree program are automatically enrolled in The Academy which offers interdisciplinary leadership programs, professional development and local and international internship and engagement opportunities for students.
Career opportunities include forensic scientists, crime scene investigators, private investigators and consultants, police officers, drug analysts, researchers and academics, and specialised forensic science practitioners. The main employers of forensic scientists are State and Federal police services, State and Commonwealth Government Health Departments and analytical chemistry laboratories. Graduates will be versatile with a wide skills base with (depending on their choice of electives) potential for employment in analytical chemistry and microbiology, quality control and assurance, biochemistry and molecular biology, scientific research, education, and the chemical industry.
Lead to a career as a Nutritionalist, Education Health Programs Officer, contribute to community health programs. The program has excellent teaching and research facilities including a factory floor food production, food testing and analysis, a sensory evaluation laboratory and commerical kitchen facilities.

HSC True Reward Early Offer Program
The HSC True Reward early offer program gives school leavers much needed peace of mind, providing an early offer into most courses at Western Sydney University based on Year 11 or Year 12 subject results.
Applications are now open to receive an early offer to begin in 2023.
