- Description
Disruptions over the last decade (e.g. drought, bushfire, financial crisis) have interrupted the nature of Education across Western Sydney, Australia, and indeed the world. Most recently, COVID-19 has transformed Education at a rapid unprecedented pace. Whilst the character and impact of these changes - positive and negative - remains unknown, the potential for this crisis to amplify educational inequality is significant. Education can be considered as both a determinant, and indicator, of flourishing for individuals, families, communities, and indeed societies. Education in its broadest form includes a range of undertakings such as professional and workforce training; tertiary, secondary, primary and early childhood education; as well as extra curricula activities and educational therapy. Western Sydney University has considerable expertise in Educational Research and the Education and Work Research Theme invites interested researchers to an internal Theme Storm to discuss research capabilities and form collaborations across disciplines around understanding and addressing the educational challenges and opportunities faced in the climate of disruption. Please RSVP your attendance to d.tracey@westernsydney.edu.au by Monday 18th May. You will need to complete a brief survey about your research interests one week before the event to maximise the benefits to you in participating in this event. Please request the link to this survey when you RSVP your attendance to d.tracey@westernsydney.edu.au. Education and Work Research Theme Champions Danielle Tracey and Maria Estela Varua.
