Postgraduate Islamic Studies Network Workshop
28 February 2019
05:00 pm - 07:00 pm
Bankstown Campus

Address (Room): BA.02.G.04 (LT05)

Australian Muslims are largely urban dwellers with an overwhelming majority living in Greater Western Sydney region where Western Sydney University is located. Muslims are also one of the fastest growing populations in Australia and their level of educational attainment compares positively with the total Australian population. Given their large presence in the Greater Western Sydney region and at the Western Sydney University, Muslim students are a great human capital that Western Sydney University can harness. The Postgraduate Islamic Studies Network Workshops are a vehicle for bringing Muslim and non-Muslim students at Western Sydney University and from other universities in Sydney working on Islamic and Muslim-focused research projects together for an in-depth analysis and discussion. The aim is to harness this resource and enrich it with skills and knowledge for the greater good of the Greater Western Sydney community and the larger Australian society. Last Thursday of each month from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Bankstown campus a group of students, academics, and community members gather to take part in a panel discussion which concentrates on various aspects of Islam and the Muslim community both in Australia and overseas.
