Description

Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am - 4pm. In this exhibition, Curator Dr Alasdair Foster brings together four significant bodies of work, exploring the intersections of disability, sexuality and gender identification (Outing Disability – Gallery Three), disability, violence and shame (Silent Tears – Gallery One), and disability and indigeneity (Unfinished Business – Gallery Two), while celebrating the courageous Indigenous women who speak out against domestic violence (Breaking Silent Codes – Gallery Three). When injustice is manifold, one inequity can blind us to another. The work of the artist Belinda Mason takes us beyond that blind spot. Fearless, empathic and poetic, her work movingly advocates for the rights of people with disability, those who suffer violence, and those oppressed on the basis of their sexuality, gender identity or ethnicity.
