Renee Smith

Renee Smith Renee Smith is the Senior Technical Officer (Physiological Plant Ecology) responsible for the operations of the SIEF funded project 'Forests for the Future', and provides support for a research group led by Professor David Tissue.

Renee graduated from Western Sydney University with a BSc (Hons). Her thesis explored how leaf structural responses to climate change affected leaf function in Eucalyptus sideroxylon. Renee took up her current position in 2014 after serving as Professor Tissue's Technical Assistant since 2007.

  • Operates CO2, temperature and humidity controlled glasshouses
  • Propagates and maintains plants
  • Collects detailed plant growth and physiological data in glasshouse, lab and field facilities
  • Conducts plant anatomical and chemical analysis
  • Assists with the design and implementation of complex experiments
